About Us

Spay Neuter Initiatives Association is a non-profit organization, dedicated to addressing the issue of overpopulation of cats and dogs in Durham Region. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and reducing the number of stray animals through our spay and neuter programs. Our efforts are made possible by the generous support of our community and donors. We are proud to be a registered Canadian charity, ensuring that all donations made to our cause are tax-deductible. With our dedicated team of volunteers and veterinarians, we are making a positive impact on the lives of countless animals in need. Linda Power

Linda Power

Linda is a long time animal rescuer, advocate and protectionist. Her decades of dedication to companion animal rescue has seen her and her husband foster thousands of needy animals on their way to better lives in permanent homes. She is a passionate advocate for making Spay/Neuter available to all dogs and cats everywhere.

Lorraine Rotz

Lorraine Rotz

Lorraine is a chartered professional accountant, CPA-CA and our invaluable financial consultant. Lorraine has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and qualified as a chartered account in Ontario in 1987. Lorraine is committed to helping support Spay Neuter Initiatives Association.

Angela Schweinitz

Angela Schweinitz

Angela is a radio personality. An avid lover of animals, especially cats, she enjoys hanging out with her two cats, Seymour (adopted from Uxbridge Cat Rescue) and Maggie (adopted from the Uxbridge Scugog Animal Shelter). She is passionate about seeing animals find their forever homes.

Martin Field

Martin Field

Martin has been involved as an animal advocate since the late 1970's in both the UK and Canada. Most recently, he was elected as Chair of the Spay Neuter Initiatives Association, Executive Committee, and has served as Vice Chair of the Oshawa Animal Care Advisory Committee heading the Regulatory & By-law working group. Martin's 2 fur buddies at home are George and Nigel, both are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Dianne Fil

Dianne Fil

Dianne is a former social worker at Durham Children’s Aid Society for 30 yrs. Retired in 2006. Beginning 2007, Dianne volunteered at Humane Society of Durham, doing feline enrichment and cleaning until 2014. Dianne was instrumental in organizing 3-Pet Wellness Days for animals of the unhoused and low-income seniors. Dianne is a devoted member of (Oshawa Animal Care Advisory Committee (OACAC) and long time Board Member of Spay Neuter Initiatives Association.

Emily Gerber

Emily Gerber

Emily has a passion for working with animals. Her first job was mucking stalls to pay for horseback riding lessons. After completing a post secondary education in a Veterinary Assistant program, she began working as a kennel attendant at an animal shelter, and is now the supervisor for that shelter, where she sees everyday the importance and impact of spaying and neutering animals.

Kimberley Mack

Kimberly Mack

Kimberley is an R.N. with experience in emergency and critical care nursing. Now in education, she's working with the next generation of nurses. Long involved in animal advocacy and rescue, she has a special love for older animals and those with health challenges. She shares her home with her dogs (Chico, Taylor & Layla) and cats (Otis & Lucky), adopted from various rescues.
